T O P I C R E V I E WDoux RêveI'd like your opinions on this.If someone's Venus makes no major aspects to the other person's planets, does it necessarily mean that they won't be able to truly feel love for them? The person I have in mind has Venus on the IC, it rules their 3rd (Taurus) and 8th houses (Libra). If anything, the only aspects it does make to my chart is a wide conjunction to my ASC and a quincunx to my Mercury..Thanks for any insight.CeridwenI very much like to see Venus-aspects, but occasionally I stumble across a synastry where these are lacking, and yet two people are in love. In these cases I have invariably (so far at least) found that there were strong aspects to the rulers of 5th and 7th house of the "venus-less" person.Oh and most of the case there were Venus-progressions.Doux RêveRight, I agree with you.So do you think house rulers are actually that important?I often don't consider them that much, but maybe I should? It's just that I've never really noticed that much of a trend; but then again, maybe I didn't look too in depth and couldn't find any patterns.Oh and yes, I agree with you on the progressions, they do seem to play a role in the establishment of a relationship, especially.Ceridwen quote:Originally posted by Doux Rêve:So do you think house rulers are actually that important?Yes, I do.I have found them to be more consistent than planetary aspects even.having said that, I have only noticed that consistency with Placidus/topocentric housesystem though, which is the reason I am using these exclusively, event hough I like equal system from a theoretical point of view.Especially in terms of the angle rulers and the rulers of 5th, 7th (and sometimes 8th house - though not as consistent) the results are often very astounding and descriptive.Doux RêveI see, thanks. One more thing. Does the nature of the aspect influence the strength of the connection? Are easy aspects stronger or "better" than the hard ones? Some people say hard aspects are more binding, and I wonder how true this is.I am battling with this question myself. It`s difficult to say.On the one hand squares especially turn up the intensity of experience and the energy a LOT (I sometimes call them "loud" or "attention-grabbing" aspects; it is quite difficult to ignore something with whom you share significant squares), on the other hand the signs are still incompatible from an elemental point of view. The energies are expressed quite differently.Yet i have found that squares between Yin and Yang planets, and between rulers of 5th and 8th house, and I believe also between ruler of 5th/8th house and Sun, (Moon), Venus, Mars, Pluto, uranus can really heat up things in term of attraction (with Mars, OPluto, Uranus they can be very volatile at the same time though, explosive; sometimes a Richard Burton/Liz Taylor or Laurence Olivier/Vivien Leigh, even Frank Sinatra/Ava Gardner kind of attraction).Squares between Yin planets, especially Moon-Moon, Venus-Venus, I haven`t experienced as too positive. however I HAVE seen Moon-Venus-squares quite often and there seems to be a deep emotionalism attached to that. I think they are quite vulnerable to each other though.Squares between Yang planets, especially Sun-Mars, can actually be burning hot, like a bright flame; problem is either the flame devours itself and dies down, or becomes a wildfire that gets really destructive.Often Sun-Mars square pairings will be pretty combative, argumentative with each other, especially if there is no sex involved.having said that though, my friends share a DW of Sun-Mars-square, and they are treating each other very kindly. So it is not always that way. They both have Suns in earth signs and Mars in air signs, which might give a certain understanding and common ground. They do have their differences though. The trine and to the lesser degree the sextile are charming aspects, very soothing, like a warm cushion you can fall upon and relax and feel secure and comfortable. The problem is only that often you might not even notice the cushion is there and you are already lying on it.But if you become aware of it, it is really nice. But a trine or sextile will never produce any kind of devouring compulsive attraction. For trine/sextile-relationships I amt hinking more of Paul Mc Cartney and his first wife or maybe also the Newmans. Sextile/trine relationships often give more of a warm gentle glow, a supportive vibe, but not the kind of "I can´t live without you"-compulsive attraction. They probably even can live without each other, they just don´t want to, cause being together feels so natural (I think here the conjunctions will come into play as well). But maybe Lotiswhite can give her opinion here, cause I am not totally sure about it myself.Ceridwen quote:Originally posted by Ami Anne: What about the Moon? Oh and most of the case there were Venus-progressions.

Yes, I do.I have found them to be more consistent than planetary aspects even.having said that, I have only noticed that consistency with Placidus/topocentric housesystem though, which is the reason I am using these exclusively, event hough I like equal system from a theoretical point of view.
